i use cosine.club to find tracks similar to ones I like, but they now have a “Journey” option: you pick a starting track and an ending track, and it uses its magic to build a playlist that gradually moves from one to the other based on shared characteristics. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just for electronic music—it has a deep knowledge of obscure and experimental bands too. I’ve discovered a lot of great music this way. For example: Tortoise – “TNT” → COH – “I Smile; I Know.” And guess who showed up along the way? Nels Cline and Henry Kaiser. Not bad as travel companions.
